Students will leave Caring and Sharing Learning School and become positive school and community leaders in the global economy. To assist in achieving our mission and vision, Caring and Sharing Learning School utilizes the following components in the implementation of the curriculum: 1) Data driven instructional program, 2) Differentiated instruction, 3) High student expectation, 4) Extended learning time, and 5) Parent and community-based organization volunteers.
Data Driven Instructional Program
At Caring and Sharing Learning School, data is used to plot student progress, plan, and execute the instructional program. Data from state assessments, district assessments, classroom assessments, and student self assessments are used to identify student weaknesses and strengths. Based on the results from a variety of assessments, we at Caring and Sharing Learning School are able to build an instructional program based solely on student weaknesses and strengths. This results in each student having their own personalized educational plan. Caring and Sharing Learning School also uses input from parents in planning the instructional program for students. The formalized process for securing parental input as it pertains to data includes parent data night meetings. At these meetings, a dialogue between parents and instructional staff on how to increase their academic performance based on the data is discussed. Not only are parent data meetings have been very beneficial in identifying student weaknesses and strengths, but these meetings have allowed us to set short term academic goals for students which foster a high degree of parent involvement.
